The Role

The Communications and Stakeholder Relations Advisor is a dynamic role within the Atura Power Corporate Affairs team, with mandates to design, implement and oversee the delivery of internal and external communications, and establish and grow relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the companys business objectives.This role is an individual contributor who work closely with the Senior Communications and Stakeholder Relations Advisor and other stakeholders to develop and execute communication and stakeholder relations strategies and plans.Your strong organizational, communication and relationship skills, coupled with your pragmatic and creative approach, will be keys to your success.

This role is a 12-month contract position reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Affairs and General Counsel, and is located in Oakville, On.

The Responsibilities

  • Help plan and execute communications and stakeholder relations strategies and associated tactics which may include comprehensive communications and stakeholder relations plans, drafting copy for emails, the website and printed materials, producing videos, presentations, media and municipal council events to support Atura Powers business strategies
  • Oversee and deliver internal and external communications for the company, communications services for community outreach and corporate programs and initiatives
  • Establish, promote, and sustain effective working relationships internally/externally at all levels
  • Represent Atura Power in dealings with municipal and provincial stakeholders and provide effective liaison on corporate relations issues
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of current issues, impacts, trends and potential needs with respect to community relationships, employees and corporate issues, and the potential impact and application to the company
  • Develop and implement strategies and content to ensure the online experience of Atura Powers audiences, stakeholders, partners, and employees is effective, simple, clear, and easy to navigate
  • Promote Atura Power via web, social media, paid advertising, earned media and new media
  • Maintain and reinforce application of Atura Powers corporate brand standards
  • Organize media events including news conferences and media briefings and produce relevant media, social and digital communications products in support
  • Follow and reinforce established writing style in all materials
  • Identify and analyze issues with respect to potential and actual impacts on employees from a communications perspective. Anticipate and assess issues that have the potential to be significant. Provide strategic advice and guidance to Atura Power management based on sound judgement regarding such matters.
  • Respond to written or oral requests for information from key stakeholders and employees in response to articles or public statements by management and external organizations
  • Design, develop and distribute employee communications and/or external communication vehicles such as internal or community newsletters, media releases and internet/intranet materials
  • Participate in community open houses, face-to-face meetings, community events and spokesperson presentations as needed

Qualifications & Education:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, journalism, media, political science or business
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in public affairs, government affairs, communications, journalism, media, social media, or marketing
  • Familiarity with news media and writing for media
  • Knowledge of human communications behaviour, mass media and business communications theory, techniques, and technologies to develop, recommend and implement business communication strategies and tactics
  • Strong writing, editing and proof-reading skills
  • Confidence to meet with and present to company senior management and municipal government and business leaders
  • Well-developed sense of analytical thinking and ability to summarize
  • Detail-orientated, organized and quality-driven
  • Multitasking, prioritizing, and time-management skills
  • Team player with an ability to collaborate with other team members
  • Proficient with computer tools: Microsoft 365 environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams SharePoint, and Outlook
