Digital and Graphic Design
- Provide multimedia support (e.g. videography, photography, graphic design, and presentation enhancements) to help engage employees and residents while communicating messages aligned to city programs and services.
- Assists with developing the visual identity for the City's brand and sub-brands
- Manages and maintains the consistency and integrity of the City's brand
- Provides expertise and understanding in various social media platforms
- Post, edit and manage information on social media platforms in the absence of the Manager of Marketing and Communications and the Marketing and Communications Specialist
- Strong photo and video editing skills. Experienced in video production process. In conjunction with Manager of Marketing and Communications and the Marketing and Communications Specialist, assist with video story boarding and oversee small video productions.
- Monitor and update the organization's website.
- Implement UX/UI best practices.
- Assists with developing and implementing website training to content contributors (various department employees.
- Assists with responding to and troubleshooting website issues.
- Secondary point of contact to website provider (updates to software, outages, issues).
- In conjunction with the Manager of Marketing and Communications, assists with deciding if content should or should not be implemented in the website
- Ensure compliance of the website with all laws and regulations (e.g., AODA)
- In conjunction with the Manager of Marketing and Communications and the Marketing and Communications Specialist, recommends appropriate website content aligned with the organization's strategy.
- 3 year diploma in Graphic/Web Design or equivalent knowledge attained through training and experience
- 3 Years' work experience in Graphic Design
- Class “G” Drivers Licence required
- Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite with a focus on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Demonstrated understanding of: colour theory, spaces (RGB, CMYK, HEX, Pantone) and relationships, typographic terms, perspective and space relationships, page composition and grid structures, print production process and knowledge of production techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills required; needs to examine to understand customers' graphic design and production needs. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with clients about corporate brand standards.
- High level of artistic skill and creativity, while being able to work collaboratively within a team environment and receive constructive input from supervisors and peers.
- Understands UX/UI best practices (User Experience / User Interface)
- Analytical Skills (tracking website analytics)
- Experience working with content management systems (CMS) and familiarity with HTML, iFrame (web languages and best practices)
- Project Management skills
- Time Management (managing multiple project at once)

- Occasional overtime on evenings / weekends required for special events, responding to social media, and for time sensitive website and design projects
