Job Summary:

We are seeking an Application Engineer - Lighting Controls to work on design, programming and commissioning for Lighting Controls applications, with further potential involvement in the other scopes depending on workloads. This is an entry-level position with potential to grow into new opportunities and roles for the right candidate.

ey Responsibilities:

Design

  • Review project quote, drawings and determine requirements.
  • Design lighting control systems and create supporting shop drawings package, including
  • schematics, panel layout drawings, control narrative, network / system diagram, and bill of
  • materials
  • Coordinate and clarify project requirements with customers and consultants. Prepare and
  • submit RFI's, emails, etc.
  • Determine component compatibility and propose alternates when needed
  • Obtain quotes from Vendors for materials per the project requirements
  • Programming and configuration for lighting controllers and other components

Production Support

  • Once the project is approved and into production, support the production team:
    • Help resolve conflicts with drawings and materials as needed
    • Assist the shop Production Lead with shop testing and configuration of equipment.
  • Once project complete, perform close-out tasks:
    • Update “As-built” record drawings
    • Assist in document management of project info: QAQC reports, As-Builts, Manuals
    • and other project files

Field Commissioning

  • Attend site to commission / test the control system once it is installed
  • Provide training demonstration to the end-user and others
  • Work with other team members, contractors, consultants and operators to troubleshoot
  • issues when necessary

Estimating / Sales Support

  • Learn the pricing of components, and assist the sales team to review estimates for accuracy
  • and component selection
  • Prepare change-order proposals if needed

Other Potential Work Scope

  • Depending on primary workload, there would also be design tasks other items produced in our shop, such as:
    • Create design drawings for prefabricated assemblies for Building Automation projects
    • Control panel layout, schematics, design and drafting for other low-voltage controls,
    • like Building Automation, Energy Management, Security / Access Control, etc.
    • Assist in our Industrial controls design, for pumping stations. This includes preparing
    • shop drawings and potentially design for motor controls and power systems.
    • Work on standardizing panel design drawings for our design libraries

Qualifications:

  • Familiar with various Electrical construction drawings: Site Plans, Electrical: Single line,
  • ladder diagrams, schematics, PLC drawings, equipment layouts, equipment schedules / BOM and CEC
  • Mechanical aptitude, general trade knowledge
  • Controls programming experience and skills
  • Computer proficient: PDF (Bluebeam), MS Office: Excel, Visio, AutoCAD
  • Other computer skills – Programming, database design, advanced excel, graphics, AI etc…
  • Communications experience – Network architecture, communications protocols (professional communication skills: email, phone, video, face to face)
  • Construction industry experience in Mechanical / Electrical – design, construction, sales
  • Manufacturing experience – resource planning, standard manufacturing processes
  • Lean, Six Sigma, and other workplace process improvement training and experience
  • Punctual and organized; able to meet a schedule
  • Dedicated and takes ownership of tasks to ensure they are completed
  • Effective time management skills
