Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for executing the accounting functions of the organization by conducting reporting and reconciliations, balancing accounts, and preparing journal entries. Furthermore, this position provides support for monthly reporting and the annual year-end and audit processes. Alongside colleagues, this position plays an integral part in ensuring the business is operating effectively.

The position will include the following responsibilities:

• Prepare all monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare monthly and quarterly investment and insurance related balance sheet reconciliations
• Verify and coordinate the daily transactions related to the Investment business
• Balance the investment and insurance bank accounts daily
• Calculate and remit investment federal and provincial withholding taxes
• Prepare journal entries
• Maintain report for interest accounts
• Aid in annual audit process
• Prepare insurance Trust bank quarterly breakdowns
• Prepare PST reconciliation for government remittance
• Responsible for any other duties assigned by the Senior Accountant, Controller, or CFO

Work Environment

• Hybrid model: work from home and office
• Attend Toronto office a few times per month

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

• College or university diploma in accounting
• CPA (or equivalent) accounting designation or candidate

Experience

• 3 – 5 years of progressive experience in the accounting field
• Financial services and/or insurance experience is an asset
