Position Summary:
ErinoakKids is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill a full-time permanent position as a Communication & Technology Facilitator (CTF) with the Assistive Devices Resource Service. The Communication & Technology Facilitator is part of a team that supports the provision of assistive technology for face-to-face communication, access and writing to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with therapists in the arrangement, set-up and programming of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) equipment and materials
  • Support Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists in assessment and training sessions
  • Program communication devices and create displays/systems for AAC users
  • Provide individual/group training and technical troubleshooting to clients/families/school mediators in order to support both written and verbal communication skills
  • Develop training materials for clients/families/school
  • Provide families with information on ADP and CEP's leasing and/or purchasing policies/procedures and complete necessary paperwork
  • Maintain expertise and knowledge of AAC technologies
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a post-graduate Communicative Disorders Assistant program
  • Experience with AAC systems: Speech Generating Devices, low tech communication systems and specialized computer software and hardware preferred
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Two years of clinical experience working with children with special needs preferred
  • Ability to work independently and be an effective and collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle required
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
