About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team. This contract position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to all aspects of financial management, from month-end processes to financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller and collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support month-end close procedures and prepare quarterly financial statements for all company entities.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for revenue collections and trust and operating bank accounts.
- Prepare journal entries for transactions, expense accruals, and inter-company reconciliations.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and assist in variance analysis for both revenues and expenses.
- Participate in the audit and fiscal year-end process.
- Manage and update corporate insurance applications and related documentation.
- Review and approve journal entries submitted by junior team members.
- Assist with bank reconciliations, including daily checks and investment cash balancing against NAV.
- Support the Controller and CFO with various ad-hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- CPA candidate or designation is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in financial services or insurance is an asset.
- Familiarity with Dynamics 365 Business Central (NAV) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to embrace change and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and other accounting software.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and build strong relationships.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid model: Work from home and the office.
- Occasional in-office attendance at our Toronto office as per company policy.
