Maintenance Manager

Location: Central New Brunswick

Industry: Sawmill / Wood Products Manufacturing

Our client, a leading company in the forest products industry, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations at one of the largest sawmills in Eastern Canada. This high-volume facility runs 24/7 with planned maintenance shutdowns each week. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic and hands-on management of plant maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement across all systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all mechanical and electrical maintenance operations in a modern, high-capacity mill.
  • Lead a diverse maintenance team of 38, including maintenance supervisors, planners, millwrights, electricians, and support personnel.
  • Ensure optimal reliability and availability of equipment through proactive maintenance strategies and programs.
  • Develop and manage department budgets, monitor maintenance costs, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Implement and refine preventative maintenance programs and reliability metrics.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and career development opportunities to team members.
  • Manage parts inventory, support payroll processing, and track key departmental KPIs such as PM compliance and schedule adherence.
  • Foster a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in industrial technology, engineering, or a Red Seal certification in a mechanical or electrical trade.
  • 47 years of experience managing maintenance teams, ideally in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance systems, reliability metrics, inventory management, and budget control.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with a passion for developing people and building high-performing teams.
