Position Overview The National Facilities & Equipment Manager is responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and managing all building leases (new and renewals), ensuring cost-effective construction or remodeling of facilities and equipment, and optimizing the layout of these locations. This role includes developing, maintaining, and updating the Company's “Facilities & Equipment Manual,” which outlines policies and procedures for facility leasing, construction, and administration. The Manager also negotiates national contracts for warehouse equipment, services, and consumables. The incumbent collaborates internally with Divisional Operations Managers, Divisional Controllers, General Managers, Vice-Presidents, and Rexel Canada's legal department. Externally, the role engages with real estate agents, brokers, building owners and managers, and their legal and financial representatives. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but coordinates with divisional and local staff to ensure branch work plans are executed during relocations or remodeling, in compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Roles and Responsibilities * Act as the Company's chief spokesperson and negotiator for lease terms on all new or renewed leases. * Establish lease criteria for all locations as defined in the Facilities & Equipment Manual. * Review and approve proposed leases for all locations. * Review and approve project budgets for new building construction and remodeling in collaboration with the Vice-President Operations and Logistics. * Monitor projects to ensure completion within budget and scheduled timelines. * Plan layouts for branches, warehouses, showrooms, and other areas with Divisional and Regional Operations personnel, considering inventory turnover and operational efficiency. * Procure equipment such as racking, shelving, and forklifts to support branch relocations or layout designs. * Provide ongoing direction and advice to divisions on appropriate material handling equipment. * Negotiate national contracts for warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, wire cutting machines), warehouse services (cleaning, garbage removal), and warehouse consumables (boxes, tape). * Provide leadership and coordinate with divisional management during lease negotiations, re-negotiations, building purchases, construction, or modifications. * Ensure all lease agreements and construction contracts are negotiated in the Company's best interests, considering budget constraints and operational requirements. * Obtain approval from the Vice-President Operations and Logistics on all agreements and contracts. * Ensure proper review and approval of all leases and contracts, involving legal departments as necessary. * Construct project budgets and secure necessary approvals. * Follow and comply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations as outlined in the Rexel Canada Health & Safety Manual. * Ensure all employees and contractors are trained and adhere to health and safety policies and procedures. Qualifications * University degree (preference will be given to candidates with an engineering degree) plus a minimum of ten (10) years of related operational experience in the electrical distribution industry. * At least five (5) years in a management capacity within operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to be able to read and interpret engineered drawings, contracts, reports, and manuals. * Skilled in writing reports, correspondence, and contracts. * Effective verbal communication skills for engaging with customers, suppliers, and negotiating contracts. * Motivational and training skills.
