We are looking for a Sustainability Specialist and Facilitator to join our Sustainability Team and support organizations in the public and private sectors to design, implement, and report on ESG, sustainability, or climate action strategies.
About You
You have been working in an organization or as a consultant leading sustainability planning processes and programs and are looking for a role that expands your experience, expertis, and impact.
You are ready to work independently with clients to design, implement, evaluate, and communicate sustainability plans and workplace programs. To do this work, you ask great questions, listen intently, and reflect back observations, ideas, and recommendations. At the same time, you have the expertise to provide clients with critical information when exploring energy, water, waste, transportation, carbon, and social impacts, and are familiar with major ESG / Sustainability reporting frameworks.
You are motivated by helping people lead change in their organization and developing solutions that engage stakeholders and achieve results. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, love facilitating discussions with groups of people, and are drawn to working collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams. To support our business development activities, you also demonstrate the ability to build strong client relationships and are comfortable actively promoting Prism services.
About the Role
Reporting to the Sustainability Team Leader, you will support and/or lead a combination of short-term and multi-year projects. Your workday is dynamic. It consists of coaching clients online and in-person, leading planning sessions and events, and conducting research and writing strategies and reports.
Your work will include:
- Conducting market and academic research on ESG, sustainability, and climate action topics
- Planning and facilitating stakeholder engagement activities such as meetings, workshops, and interviews
- Writing climate action and sustainability plans and reports
- Developing workplace sustainability strategies and communication materials
- Using Prisms Excel-based modelling tools to analyze and graphically represent sustainability data
Qualifications and Experience

- A university degree relevant to sustainability planning and leading change. Examples could include an undergraduate or graduate degree in sustainable business, environmental studies, teaching, or planning.
- 2-7 years of experience working with organizations to develop, implement, and evaluate sustainability and climate action plans and programs. Including practical experience:
- Working on sustainability, climate action, and ESG planning and reporting
- Applying change management approaches to implement sustainability strategies in an organizational setting.
- Planning and facilitating meetings or stakeholder engagement sessions.
- Key skills include the ability to effectively:
- Analyze and Synthesize: Rapidly review large volumes of data to identify patterns, best practices, and unique or innovative approaches.
- Problem Solve: Think dynamically, solve problems, generate solutions, and make
- Facilitate: Effectively facilitate discussions, meetings, and workshops.
- Communicate: Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project Management: Manage multiple tasks, projects, and budgets efficiently.
- Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by listening, interpreting, and anticipating their needs.
- The following skills and experience are consideredmajor assets:
- Experience working in a consulting environment
- Proficiency in using Excel for data analysis and visualization.
- Knowledge about or familiarity with one or more of the following subject areas:
- Energy management and emissions reduction strategies for existing buildings
- Greenhouse gas emissions reporting standards and frameworks
- Climate science, climate adaptation, and/or low-carbon resilience
This is a 40-hour-per-week salaried position in a hybrid working environment, primarily based at our main branch in Burnaby. The candidate must have the ability to travel locally with occasional trips to other BC communities and provinces across Canada.
