THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is thrilled to be partnering with a well-established, fully integrated real estate financing and investment firm to hire a Senior Vice President (SVP) for their growing executive leadership team. With 40+ years of success, our client has built a reputation for delivering consistent investor returns through expert deployment of capital across residential and commercial real estate in BC, Alberta, and Ontario.

As they continue to grow, they are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Vice President to join their executive leadership team and drive the companys investment strategy, portfolio growth, and operational success.

What Youll Do

As the Senior Vice President, you will be entrusted with broad oversight of investment operations, portfolio performance, and capital strategy. Your scope includes:

  • Strategy & Portfolio Management
  • Lead fund strategy targeting stable yields of Prime +2% to +3%.
  • Oversee a balanced real estate portfolio across land, construction, and inventory loans.
  • Manage leverage, capital allocation, and investor returns.
  • Governance & Board Relations
  • Engage with the Board of Directors on high-level decisions.
  • Prepare board meeting materials, financial updates, and ensure compliance with D&O insurance requirements.
  • Financial Oversight
  • Oversee cash flows, from loan funding to investor distributions.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and Controller on financial reporting, budgeting, and analytics.
  • Credit & Origination
  • Evaluate and approve loan applications and structures.
  • Co-lead loan origination, risk mitigation, and underwriting with the President.
  • Establish co-lending and financing partnerships.
  • Investor Relations & Representation
  • Lead quarterly investor communications, presentations, and events.
  • Strengthen banking relationships and represent the firm at industry conferences.
  • Negotiate credit line terms and loan covenants.
  • Compliance & Licensing
  • Serve as the Designated Individual (DI) with the BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA).
  • Maintain oversight of licensing and regulatory compliance.
  • Leadership & Talent Management
  • Coach, mentor, and lead a high-performing team.
  • Drive hiring, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Special Projects
  • Execute strategic initiatives, including IT systems, office moves, and vendor negotiations.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in real estate finance, ideally within credit unions, banks, or alternative lenders.
  • Track record of leading portfolio management, credit underwriting, and capital structuring.
  • Strong grasp of financial analysis, company financials, and investment risk.
  • Designations such as CPA, CFA, or MBA are highly desirable.
  • Proven leadership presence with excellent decision-making and mentoring ability.
  • Highly analytical, resourceful, and strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools.
