Tired of being treated like you're worthless because you're "just a laborer"? Getting yelled at for other people's mistakes? Doing the dirtiest work for the least respect?

We see it differently.

Our laborers are the backbone that lets skilled trades work efficiently. You're not "just" anything - you're the reason our electricians bill 8 productive hours instead of 5. You're why our sites run smooth.

WHAT YOU ACTUALLY DO:

  • Stage materials before trades arrive
  • Move supplies between floors as needed
  • Set up and maintain organized work areas
  • Keep sites clean and safe
  • Support all trades so they stay productive
  • Learn from watching skilled trades work

THE RESPECT PART:

  • Site super who treats everyone professionally
  • Trades who appreciate your help (we enforce it)
  • Same break areas and facilities as everyone
  • No hazing, no BS power trips
  • Actual "please" and "thank you" culture

THE MONEY:

  • Above minimum wage - we value this work
  • Paid every Friday, guaranteed
  • Bonus when projects finish early
  • Raise opportunities as you learn skills
  • Overtime available on busy weeks

YOUR TYPICAL DAY:

  • 7 AM: Coffee with the crew (not separate)
  • Morning: Set up materials for trades
  • Help framers move lumber, help electrician stage boxes
  • Keep walkways clear and safe
  • Lunch break at actual tables
  • Afternoon: Prep tomorrow's work areas
  • 3:30 PM: Help secure site, head home

Here's the thing - our laborers often become trades. Watch the plumber work while helping move fixtures. Learn from the framers while moving lumber. We've had laborers become carpenters, electricians, whatever interests them.

LOOKING FOR:

  • Strong work ethic (more important than experience)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Shows up every day ready to work
  • Good attitude and willingness to learn
  • Basic physical fitness
  • Works well with others

TO APPLY: Send quick answers to:

  1. Why construction laborer instead of retail/warehouse/etc?
  2. What interests you about construction?
  3. Where do you live and how far can you commute?
  4. What's your availability to start?

No resume needed unless you want to send one. We care more about attitude than paperwork.

(Helio builds apartments across HRM. We run respectful sites where everyone matters. Good people tend to stick around.)

Additional Info for Laborers

  • Carpenter's helper Framing carpenter
  • Plumber's assistant Apprentice plumber
  • Site supervisor assistant Site supervisor
  • Or stayed as senior laborer with higher pay

What Makes a Great Laborer:

  • Anticipates what trades need
  • Keeps mental map of where everything is
  • Takes pride in site organization
  • Asks questions to learn
  • Shows up consistently

Why Trades Respect Our Laborers: You save them 2+ hours per day. That's 10+ hours per week they can bill instead of hauling materials. You directly make them more money. They know it and appreciate it.

This isn't a dead-end job unless you want it to be. It's a foot in the door with a company that promotes from within and pays fairly.
