Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Cook with a strong background in candy and caramel preparation to join our team. This role is critical to producing one of our signature products that requires precision in cooking caramel to exact specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to follow recipes and procedures with consistency and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare caramel and other candy bases according to standardized recipes and production schedules
- Operate cooking equipment, including kettles and mixers, with attention to temperature and timing
- Monitor and record cooking times, temperatures, and batch yields
- Ensure proper handling, measuring, and mixing of ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of cooking area in accordance with food safety standards
- Work collaboratively with production and QA teams to ensure product consistency and quality
- Lift and handle ingredients and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
- Stand for extended periods during production shifts
- Accurately complete basic math calculations related to weights, measurements, and scaling recipes
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a kitchen or production environment, preferably with candy, caramel, or chocolate
- Strong understanding of cooking techniques and temperature control
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and production instructions
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 lbs
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a food manufacturing or commercial kitchen setting
- Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
- Passion for confections and artisanal food production
