Job Summary:
We are proud to recruit for a private post-secondary institution in Calgary and/or Edmonton, Alberta, to find a dynamic and visionary College Principal. This role requires strategic leadership, regulatory compliance expertise, and a focus on academic and operational excellence within the framework of Alberta's private career college and vocational school regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Direct daily academic and administrative operations to meet institutional goals and regulatory standards.
  • Regulatory & Licensing Compliance: Obtain and maintain necessary approvals, such as PTIB compliance and DLI designation, and ensure adherence to Alberta's Private Vocational Training Act and Advanced Education requirements.
  • Financial & Operational Oversight: Manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and report financial performance to ownership.
  • Academic Program Development: Create, evaluate, and improve programs to align with industry demand, student needs, and Alberta's post-secondary quality assurance standards.
  • Talent Management: Recruit, mentor, and retain top-quality faculty and staff to support academic excellence.
  • Student Recruitment & Growth: Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain students.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster relationships with government bodies, industry partners, and accreditation agencies to enhance institutional reputation.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a Canadian post-secondary institution, understanding PTIB, DLI requirements, and Alberta Advanced Education regulations.
  • Success in institutional licensing, compliance, and securing government grants.
  • Track record in program development, faculty recruitment, and student enrollment growth.
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and team leadership skills.
  • Experience in online/hybrid education delivery is advantageous.


Regulatory Context:
While principal certification is not mandatory for this position, familiarity with Alberta's Private Vocational Training Act, PTIB standards, and Advanced Education policies is essential. Knowledge of licensing, quality assurance, and funding applications is crucial for success.
