Job Description
  • Assists with day to day operation of POC activities
  • Participation in bench duties in the Core Lab
  • Experience with RFP's and validation of multiple POC devices and/or instrumentation
  • Experience with project planning involving the implementation of new methods, equipment and/or software
  • Experience with EQA testing, submission and follow up if needed
  • Experience with POC accreditation assessment and gap analysis/risk assessment
  • Recent participation on inter-departmental committees
  • Experience dealing with vendors and ICT on project planning
  • Provides strong Technical support, consultation, and interpretation in all aspects of POC testing.
  • Coordinates troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Investigation, development, recommendation, installation and training various hospital staff associated with new methods and new POC devices
  • Assists in the follow-up of POC non-conformities as required
  • Development, updating and reviewing of the technical manuals
  • Assists with inventory control and management of supplies as it pertains to POC
  • Consults with the MDH and GH site to ensure consistency across all sites
  • Participates actively in continuing education and applies knowledge where applicable
  • Maintains adequate knowledge of core lab equipment and reporting
  • Flexibility to work at alternate hospital sites if operational needs exist
  • Experience in using MS Office and Excel and POC middleware such as Aegis POC and GemWeb Plus
  • Preparation of statistics as they relate to the discipline specific area
  • Responsible for the reporting of accurate and precise results and maintains established Quality Control programs. Must be capable of taking Independent action to correct results that are not in control.
  • Reports all issues and process gaps to Laboratory Manager and offers constructive solutions
  • Maintains current knowledge of professional standards, legislation, accreditation requirements and established health and safety guidelines.
  • Other duties as required by the Laboratory Manager, Technical Department Head and the Pathologists
Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
  • Recent 3-5 years of Core Lab experience, including strong technical experience in POC
  • Experience with routine automated instrumentation and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Laboratory Quality Management Systems, Quality Assurance procedures and Quality Control.
  • Solution oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of a team.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be physically able to do the job
  • Excellent employment and attendance record

Additional Information

Status: Permanent Full-time

Hours: Monday to Sunday - All shifts, weekends, and holidays (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs

Salary: $42.250 to $53.240 per hour
