Summary:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Facility Support the HVAC Technician is responsible for support the operation of our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC/R). This role plays a vital part in ensuring optimal indoor climate control, energy efficiency, and equipment reliability in a high-demand production environment.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities will include:
· Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems (e.g., air handlers, RTUs, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, boilers).
· Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and company schedules.
· Diagnose system malfunctions and perform necessary repairs with minimal downtime.
· Monitor building automation and control systems (e.g., BAS/BMS) for efficient operation.
· Ensure all work meets applicable Canadian codes and standards (e.g., CSA, TSSA, OHS regulations).
· Maintain accurate logs of service, repairs, and inspections using CMMS or manual documentation.
· Support energy efficiency initiatives and recommend system improvements.
· Collaborate with other trades and departments to ensure seamless operation of facility systems.
· Respond to emergency maintenance calls during or outside of regular working hours (on-call rotations may apply).
Qualifications & Experience Required:
· Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on HVAC experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
· Strong understanding of HVAC controls, BAS/BMS, and energy-efficient systems.
· Ability to interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
· Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and record-keeping skills.
· Familiarity with Canadian building, fire, and safety codes.
· Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (lifting, heights, confined spaces & cold conditions).
Education, Certification, Licenses & Registrations:
· Red Seal Certification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic.
· Red Seal Class B gasfitters license.
Physical Demands:
· Exposure to noise, heat/cold, dust, and industrial environments.
· May require working at heights, in mechanical rooms, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
· PPE provided; adherence to safety policies is mandatory.
· Shift work or on-call rotations may be required.
