The Position:

Inclusion Winnipeg is a community-based organization dedicated to promoting the rights and inclusion of people living with intellectual disabilities. With deep roots in advocacy, support, and empowerment, our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals and their families by advancing their human rights and fostering meaningful participation in all aspects of community life. We champion diversity, accessibility, and self-advocacy, building a more inclusive society through collaboration, education, and systemic change.
The Executive Director (ED) is the senior leader of Inclusion Winnipeg, responsible for driving the organizations strategic vision and operational excellence. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will provide leadership across all facets of the organization, including governance, program delivery, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and internal operations. This role is ideal for a dynamic, mission-driven leader with a strong background in nonprofit management and a passion for creating inclusive communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Governance:
- Provide guidance and support to the Board of Directors, ensuring effective governance and policy compliance.
- Lead the development and execution of multi-year strategic and operational plans aligned with Inclusion Winnipegs mission.
- Keep the Board informed of progress, risks, opportunities, and compliance with bylaws and governance best practices.
- Participate in board and committee meetings, offering timely, relevant data and insights to inform decision-making.
- Promote ongoing board training and professional development in inclusive practices and leadership.
Community Engagement & Advocacy:
- Foster strong relationships with families, self-advocates, community organizations, funders, and government partners.
- Represent the organization at public events, media engagements, and in collaboration with local, provincial, and national partners.
- Advance Inclusion Winnipegs government relations strategy and serve as a public champion for inclusion and accessibility.
- Identify and engage key stakeholders to build a strong support network and promote organizational initiatives.
- Sustain and grow relationships with donors and supporters, nurturing a culture of philanthropy.
Operations, Finance & Human Resources Management:
- Oversee financial health, including budgeting, audits, investments, and reporting in partnership with the Treasurer and Finance Committee.
- Ensure alignment of resources with strategic goals and secure diversified funding through grants, donations, and partnerships.
- Lead human resources functions, including staff recruitment, development, and performance management in accordance with employment laws.
- Implement risk management frameworks to ensure safety, legal compliance, and continuity of operations.
- Monitor organizational processes for continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Education in non-profit management, business administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Deep understanding of intellectual disability inclusion, rights-based advocacy, and community development.
- Proven success in fundraising, grant writing, and managing donor relationships.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and financial analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to lead diverse teams and engage stakeholders.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and knowledge of governance frameworks.
