The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Maintenance department within the Metals division for a Planner, Maintenance located in Fort Saskatchewan. The purpose of this position is to enhance workforce productivity and work quality by proactively anticipating and eliminating potential delays through advanced preparation of labor, parts, materials, and equipment access. This role provides planning services to the maintenance execution team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of maintenance activities. maintenance work.

In this role, you will be accountable for:
- Monitoring the quality and quantity of approved work orders to ensure compliance with standards and sufficient detail.
- Supporting Sherritt's zero-harm objectives by providing comprehensive and accurate maintenance work plans for all planned maintenance activities at the Fort Site.
- Screening incoming work orders, prioritizing tasks, and analyzing the required level of planning.
- Conducting field walkdowns to identify and document job requirements, safety hazards, and incorporating safety policies into job plans.
- Estimating labor hours, work order durations, and required skills for each task.
- Developing maintenance job packages, writing clear work instructions, assembling necessary technical documents, and specifying parts and repair procedures.
- Building and maintaining the planning job library, ensuring all components are properly filed and easily accessible to all planners.
- Collaborating with trade groups to review and optimize maintenance plans, incorporating feedback from job execution to continuously improve planning processes.
- Technologist diploma or Journeyperson Technician certification in maintenance-related disciplines.
- 10+ years of experience in a maintenance-related trade.
- 3-5 years planning experience.
- Experience in industrial, mining, processing, manufacturing, or a related setting.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and computerized maintenance management systems (EAM preferred); experience with SharePoint and PDF editor preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering documents, such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams, and similar drawings with physical assets.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
