Nortrans is excited to announce that we're looking for a Driver Pay Specialist to join our team in Kelowna BC. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Reporting directly to the Invoicing & AR Lead, this individual will work independently to prepare pay for Nortrans' 40+ drivers on a bi-weekly payroll schedule. This person will analyze all documentation coming from Nortrans' drivers including timesheets, bills of lading, proofs of delivery etc., to accurately calculate each driver's compensation.

As Nortrans pays its drivers differently - by the hour, trip, or by miles + pickups + drop-offs - it's critical that this person is methodical and detail oriented. Think of this position like putting together a puzzle the Pay Specialist must audit drivers' trips to assemble a complete picture of what the driver performed each week.

We are looking for an individual who is based or is willing to relocate to the Okanagan Valley to work full-time with our progressive team in Kelowna.

A Day In The Life of the Pay Specialist

  • Reconcile each driver's paperwork weekly against different shipments to ensure the shipment's paperwork is uploaded to Nortrans' transportation management system (TMS), TransPlus.
  • Use Nortrans' truck GPS/timesheet system ISAAC as well as Excel payroll spreadsheets to calculate drivers' pay based on the activities they perform (miles driven, pickups completed, trailers switched etc.).
  • Collaborate with Nortrans' Operations Manager to address day-to-day pay exceptions: wait time, highway closures, equipment breakdowns etc. Also, collaborate closely with Nortrans' Payroll & Benefits Specialist to ensure pay is completed on-time and is ready for processing through Nortrans' payroll system, Ceridian.
  • Learn how freight moves from the first pickup to the final drop-off. You should be fascinated about the system that drives our economy!

What You'll Bring To The Table

  • At least 3 years in an administrative role that requires strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail; for example, a job in accounting, inventory planning, payroll etc.;
  • Transportation & Logistics industry experience is an asset.
  • Comfort with technology and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; you don't let things slip through the cracks.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your time around a strict bi-weekly payroll schedule.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement; you're always thinking there must be a better way to do this!

What's in it for you? Glad you asked.

Nortrans is proud to be a 2025 Canada Top Fleet Employer. In addition to a respectful yet casual work environment and a supportive team, the Invoicing and Pay Analyst role at Nortrans offers:

  • A competitive annual salary
  • A robust employer-funded benefits program
  • A genuine, respectful, and casual work environment that has developed over 30 years
