Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Drafter to join our team. This role is ideal for someone early in their drafting career who is eager to learn and contribute to the development of technical drawings and designs for a variety of projects. The Junior Drafter will assist in the preparation of accurate plans, layouts, and schematics under the supervision of senior drafting staff and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the creation of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, layouts, and design schematics using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
  • Interpret and apply design specifications, blueprints, and project instructions to produce technical drawings.
  • Modify and revise drawings based on feedback and markups from project leads.
  • Support in preparing as-built drawings and documentation packages.
  • Organize and maintain CAD files and drawing records in accordance with company standards.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure drawing accuracy and project alignment.
  • Perform basic calculations and research as needed to support design development.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, Architecture, or related field.
  • 0–2 years of professional drafting experience (internships or co-op placements are an asset).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit (or other industry-specific CAD software).
  • Basic understanding of engineering or architectural concepts and terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Assets

  • Experience with project documentation and drawing management systems.
  • Familiarity with local building codes or industry-specific standards (e.g., mechanical, civil, architectural, etc.).
  • Exposure to 3D modelling, rendering, or BIM environments
