Start Date: Starting immediately or as soon as possible
Position status: seasonal part-time or full-time work until the end of the summer, possibly extended into the fall and re-starting March 2026 (off from December-February), schedule can be arranged in advance with the supervisor and open to four-day work week
Location: primarily around the Cowichan Valley, but could be working anywhere between Nanaimo and Victoria
Compensation: $25/hour, with a possibility for a raise based on performance and experience

The irrigation technician assistant will join the Flow and Frow Irrigation team, which is based on Hul'q'umi'num people's land in the Cowichan Valley, BC. Our team of three works towards creating a collaborative, supportive and organized work environment.
Position Summary
Flow and Grow Irrigation is expanding and is looking for a new member to join as an irrigation technician assistant. A motivation to work outside doing physical labour and repetitive tasks is essential. This position offers hands-on training in irrigation, so you'll come away with skills in setting up irrigation systems in gardens and farms ranging from small to large. You'll also build employable skills in agriculture, teamwork and communication— ideal for those exploring careers in farming, landscaping or trades. We're looking for someone who is dependable, eager to learn and enjoys working in a hands-on setting. No prior irrigation experience is necessary abd we'll provide training!
Key Responsibilities
Digging and pick axing trenches
Filling trenches
Putting together irrigation parts
Laying pipe, drip lines and wire
Working with different types of pipe and fittings
Organizing tools
Using various hand and power tools
Follow all safety protocols and procedures
Skills and Qualifications
Interest in irrigation, gardening, plants, farming or trades is a benefit
Ability to work independently
Able to work in all weather conditions doing physically demanding labour
Dependable, organized and able to follow instructions well
Previous experience with landscaping, hardscaping, gardening, trades, irrigation or farming is an asset, but not required
Knowledge about plants and soil health is also an asset, but not required
Enthusiasm for learning
Have physical endurance (able to work standing, kneeling, bending, lifting repeatedly, some heavy lifting up to 20kg)
Able to practice self-care (e.g. hydration, sun-smart, rest, stretching)
