Our client, an established Landscape Architecture firm in Calgary, is seeking an Associate Landscape Architect to act as Studio Director and join our vibrant landscape architecture team. ABOUT THE ROLE As Studio Director, you will oversee a talented crew of landscape architects, project managers, designers, and support staff at our thriving firm. You will serve as a collaborative leader, mentoring your team and fostering a fun, engaging work environment while ensuring project deadlines are met and motivation remains high. Your leadership will be vital in team development, monitoring progress, and resolving challenges, all while maintaining seamless coordination with the firm's principal.
This role offers significant autonomy, balanced by a collaborative approach—your ability to work independently while fostering teamwork will be key. You will also play a pivotal role in the growth of the firm by identifying new opportunities, building client relationships, and representing the firm professionally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, mentor, and develop the studio team, creating a positive and productive work environment
- Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality and timeliness
- Manage studio operations, including hiring, onboarding, and resource allocation
- Participate in business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement
- Streamline studio workflows and financial processes, including timesheets, invoicing, and budget oversight
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners
- Collaborate closely with the firm's principal on strategic planning and long-term goals
- Monitor industry trends, innovation, and sustainability practices to keep the studio at the forefront
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program
- 6-8 years of professional experience as a registered landscape architect with at least one provincial certification (Canada)
- Proven experience in team management and business development
- Strong project management skills and excellent communication abilities
- Proficiency in landscape design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite)
