About the Role
This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the firm's U.S. tax matters for its diverse investment funds and corporate entities, with a strong emphasis on compliance and strategic tax planning.
What You'll Do
- Lead U.S. federal and state income tax compliance and reporting for investment funds and corporate entities.
- Provide expert guidance on intricate tax matters, navigating complex and ambiguous regulatory landscapes.
- Oversee tax considerations related to new investments and divestitures, including due diligence and structuring.
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant tax laws and regulations, maintaining a robust compliance framework.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external advisors on strategic tax planning initiatives.
- Analyze the tax implications of financial transactions and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Manage and support tax audits and inquiries from regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to the tax strategy and oversight for a diverse portfolio of operating companies.
- CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in U.S. direct and indirect tax, with a strong focus on fund taxation (e.g., private equity, alternative investments) and corporate tax.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex tax laws, particularly in areas requiring nuanced judgment.
- A strong compliance-focused mindset and proven experience in managing comprehensive tax reporting obligations.
- Prior experience within an investment firm, private equity firm, or a large public accounting firm specializing in financial services or investment funds.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax concepts clearly.
