Administrative Assistant, East Kootenay Teacher Education Program (EKTEP)

Regular, Full-time Sessional (August-June)

Duties: Reporting to the Dean of Health and Human Services, the Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the East Kootenay Teacher Education Program (EKTEP)-a partnership between the University of Victoria (UVic) and the College of the Rockies (COTR). This role directly supports the Manager, Teacher Education, and the Faculty Lead and acts as the first point of contact for the program.

The position requires sound decision-making, discretion in handling confidential information, and a proactive approach to supporting the program's ongoing development and quality excellence. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent and OFAD certificate with Administrative Assistant Specialty or equivalent, with a minimum 2-year related work experience. Experience with use of standard office equipment, proficient in MS Office applications with strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work within a time sensitive environment with strict timelines and deadlines working both independently and within a team is required. The candidate must be able to engage in respectful and effective relationships with students, faculty, staff and others (e.g. mentor teachers, supervisors and UVic partners). Proficient use of information systems (eg Colleague, FAST), learning platforms (D2L and Moodle) and other data bases is needed, with the ability to work on several concurrent projects and manage competing deadlines with excellent attention to detail. Excellent analytical, problem solving, collaboration and negotiation skills are necessary with the proven ability to work as a team member with a diverse group of individuals (ranging from UVic and COTR leadership, faculty, instructors, staff, students, mentors, supervisors, and external partners).

As per the CUPE Salary Schedule and Collective Agreement, Pay Level 4 $3,900.86 per month.
