About the Role:

(10-20 hours per week, opening shift, 5:15 am on weekdays, 6:45am on weekends at William Lutsky Family YMC) YMCA of Northern Alberta is looking for a Wellness Coach to work in the early mornings to deliver high quality customer service in the Fitness Centre area. The Wellness Coach will provide active supervision of the Fitness Centre and its patrons, deliver Y Thrive coaching appointments, perform regular cleaning duties and equipment maintenance and role model customer service excellence at all times.

This role also offers the opportunity to lead one-on-one and group personal training sessions for patrons, provided the successful candidate holds an approved personal training certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Circulate and supervise activities in the Fitness Centre to ensure all members have a safe and enjoyable workout, monitor member behavior in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy, Child Protection Policy and Staff Abuse policy, act on issues that may arise to guarantee a positive experience for those in the Centre.
  • Perform regular cleaning of fitness equipment and complete minor equipment maintenance as required.
  • Perform Fitness Centre Orientations as required, Y Thrive coaching appointments, and check-ins, answer member questions and provide accurate information.
  • Offer high quality customer service by engaging with members and developing positive relationships while supporting them to reach their fitness goals.
  • Build and maintain a positive relationship with volunteers and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Support the branch by acting as Duty Manager when required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (physical education, personal training or exercise science) is considered an asset
  • Certified Personal Trainer (YMCA Personal Trainer ,CSEP – CPT, CanFitPro Personal Training Specialist, ISSA Personal Trainer) is considered an asset
  • Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C is required
  • Ability to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check
