Desired Results of the Position:
- For AC Students and the general public have intimate knowledge of upcoming and past events of the Algonquin Commons Theatre and its related venues
- A connected and loyal customer base that sees value in the programming done by the Algonquin Commons Theatre
- High levels of trust and collaboration throughout the Algonquin Students Association and Algonquin College community
- A harmonious Theatre and Event Operations department, where the team members feel energized, motivated, and supported to contribute to the student, guest, and client experience
- Well-monitored, properly branded, and updated social media platforms, ensuring accuracy and excellence in content, both visual and written
- Maintaining a strong online presence for the Algonquin Commons Theatre
- A clear understanding of the target audiences, based on each event, assisting with the creation of the appropriate social media strategies to reach each group
Nature and Scope
As the primary marketing personnel, the Theatre Marketing Coordinator (TMC) will be responsible to maintain, update, and advance the Algonquin Commons Theatres (ACT) traditional, digital, and social media presence, impact and brand. The TMC will oversee the strategic communications of the ACT and ensure professional execution of all promotional efforts concerning the events and activities. The TMC will be the primary marketing contact for all ACT clients and will be tasked with the collection/ creation of poster content, and any required images or logos. As an ambassador for the SA, the TMC will be polite, personable, outgoing, and able to work as part of a team. Based on the production schedule, the TMC is expected to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as the schedule demands.
Job Duties
- Create and manage advertising and marketing campaigns for events that take place in our venue (this includes creating the campaign plan, creating the required assets, tracking the allocated budget spend, analyzing ticket sales to adjust the plans as needed, and preparing final reports)
- Implement marketing strategies and initiatives to grow audiences, increase box office revenues, and develop innovative communications and outreach initiatives to diversify audiences and expand the ACTs presence
- Production of professional & dynamic graphics/posters for internal and external use, and proving that promotional material in a timely manner for the ACT and clients
- High quality creative support and solutions that are in alignment with ACT client interests
- Assist in overseeing the updates and maintenance of the ACT webpage and social media sites while managing the functionality, content, and use of those sites
- Assist in driving engagement through creative campaigns; responsible for the creation, promotion and management of compelling, high impact content that engages clients and customers, and drives connection with Algonquin College students and SA to the ACT
- Work through (and update when needed) the annual communications plan for the ACT (calendar, audience matrix, key objectives, goals, and strategies)
- Ensure brand compliance
- Explore new ways to engage and identify new social networks to reach our target buyers
- Manage the ACT poster needs distribution
- Continuously improve, by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices, and then acting on the information
- Create and maintain metrics reports on marketing and sales activities, effectiveness, and business impact (Ensure that some of the digital content is equipped with tracking code and/or analytic software for measuring matrix
- Analyze marketing and sales data to develop insights and make recommendations on areas for optimization while continually exploring different methods of promotion and learn new techniques for implementation
- Gather quotes and order all print and promotional materials as required
- Generate a monthly/bi-weekly E-Newsletter and build the list of subscribers
- Coordinate the announce/on-sale of events in ACT managed spaces
- Create Press Releases for events in ACT managed spaces as required
- Oversee Photography for events and facilities to be used in promotions of the ACT, including the schedule of photography staff
- Coordinate media requests within the ACT managed spaces
- Archive all ACT photos, videos, projects and campaigns for historical purposes and green content
- Coordinate directly with the Box Office Coordinator to ensure clear and consistent content is being presented to customers/patrons through all mediums
- Event assistance when needed.

Desired Skills and Qualifications
- A post-Secondary education (diploma/degree) or a combination of education and related experience in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- A positive attitude and ability to work both individually and in a team environment
- Persuasive writing, active listening, and speaking skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with senior management, team members, customers, and other stakeholders
- Understanding of current social media and digital marketing strategies and trends
- Understanding of the marketing, promotions and social media processes
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite is considered an asset
- Experience managing and engaging with various social media accounts including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter)
- Experience using design tools and platforms, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, ClickUp, and Canva desirable
Compensation
- This position is part of CUPE Local 5154 - Pay Level 4 ($30.58-$33.88/hour)
- Full-time position, 35 hours per week (work week will be flexible with some weeks being more hours and some less hours, and workdays may vary from week to week)
