Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Heavy Equipment Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty construction and municipal machinery and equipment—both in the shop and in the field (as needed). This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge, a commitment to safety, and excellent communication skills.

Location: Mississauga, ON

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday) + overtime as required

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs in-shop and assist with on-road service calls as needed
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on rental equipment
  • Troubleshoot issues using diagnostic tools and perform post-repair testing
  • Maintain and submit accurate service reports and warranty documentation daily
  • Carry out welding repairs when necessary
  • Strictly adhere to all workplace safety policies and report unsafe conditions or incidents
  • Stay current with technical knowledge through training (CAN/US)
  • Travel as required and work independently in remote or high-pressure environments

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician License (required)
  • 5+ years of experience with heavy equipment diagnostics and repairs
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and service manuals
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract; D/Z license is a plus
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 80 lbs
  • Proficient in computer-based diagnostics and service reporting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Safety-conscious, dependable, and self-directed
  • Crusher/Screen equipment experience highly desirable
  • Overhead crane, forklift, working at heights, and First Aid certifications preferred
