Title: Information Risk Management Specialist
Location: Toronto ON
What this role is about:
You'll lead a new program at Manulife called operational resiliency — basically, making sure the company can keep running even when something goes wrong (like a disaster, vendor issue, or system failure).
You'll prepare plans, run tests, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to make sure all critical business services can keep working no matter what happens. This is a forward-thinking leadership role because the area of resiliency is still evolving.
What your typical day looks like:
✅ Create transition and exit plans for third-party vendors (what happens if a vendor relationship ends).
✅ Act as the main point of contact for vendor contracts and reviews.
✅ Map out business risks and how to handle them.
✅ Support disaster recovery and business continuity plans under the new resiliency model.
✅ Work with business and IT teams to test backup plans and ensure operations can continue if something breaks.
Your role in the bigger team:
You'll be part of the Group Functions Technology Business Resilience Program, working remotely and using collaboration tools.
Your job is to help the business and IT teams recognize and manage risks, especially when it comes to critical third-party vendors.
You'll also contribute to key projects, making sure risks are addressed.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead testing for third-party exit/transition plans.
- Work with vendors and internal teams to set up alternative work areas if needed.
- Run business impact analyses, recovery time reviews, and map out critical processes.
- Provide advice to business units, IT, and project teams.
- Help improve and digitize resilience processes.
- Make sure all changes or projects meet regulatory and company standards.
What they want from you (must-haves):
✅ 3–5+ years of experience in disaster recovery, business resilience, IT, project management, or vendor management.
✅ BCM certification (like ABCP, CBCP, MBCI) or working toward it.
✅ Strong MS Office skills; familiarity with BCM tools or databases like Fusion Risk or PowerBI.
✅ Good understanding of systems, disaster recovery tools, and techniques.
✅ Excellent communication — able to teach and present at all levels.
✅ Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
✅ Knowledge of OSFI regulations (B10, E21).
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience specifically working with OSFI B10 & E21.
Ideal candidate personality:
They want a proactive go-getter — someone who doesn't sit around waiting for tasks but takes initiative, asks the right questions, and pushes things forward without being pushy or aggressive.
