The Opportunity

EZ STAK is seeking an conscientious, business savvy Director of Finance, who thrives in high growth, entrepreneurial environments, to lead our Finance team, based out of our Kingston, Ontario office.

The Director of Finance will be an influential and development oriented people leader, capable of coaching and empowering their team. Drive, creativity and a bias for calculated action will lead to success in this role. Both EZ STAK's Finance and IT departments will report directly into this role.

The core mission of the Director of Finance is to oversee and manage cross border financial operations, ensuring the overall financial health and stability of EZ STAK. Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will contribute as a key member of EZ STAK's executive team, shaping financial strategy in alignment with broader organizational goals and aspirations.

Please note that this is an on-site role in Kingston, Ontario.

Functional Accountabilities

Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and implement long-term financial strategies that align with the organization's goals.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and provide insights into business performance.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Ensure the preparation and presentation of accurate, consistent and timely financial statements.
  • Monitor and revise if necessary, cost accounting methods within ERP
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Oversee external audits and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the budgeting process, including the development, monitoring, and analysis of annual budgets.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and models to guide strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.

Risk Management and Internal Controls:

  • Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard the organization's assets.
  • Identify, assess, and manage financial risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including tax obligations.

Capital Management and Investment Oversight:

  • Manage the organization's capital structure, including debt and equity financing.
  • Oversee investment activities, ensuring optimal returns and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Maintain relationships with financial institutions, foreign exchange, investors, insurance, and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Commerce or Business, with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA designation
  • 7 + years of experience in a financial management capacity, including M&A experience
  • Cross border financial management experience (CAN-US), preferable in a manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency in strategic planning, forecasting, and aligning financial resources with business goals.

Financial Acumen:

  • Deep understanding of financial principles, GAAP accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
  • Deep experience in multi company, multi currency (USD/CAD).
  • Strong understanding of cashflow management and planning.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Proficiency in analyzing complex financial data and providing actionable insights.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address financial challenges and optimize financial performance.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey financial information to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments, senior management, and external parties.

Risk Management and Internal Controls:

  • Expertise in identifying, assessing, and managing financial risks.
  • Ability to implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in using financial software, ERP systems (preferably EPICOR), and other financial tools.
  • Ability to leverage technology to improve financial processes and reporting.

  • Strong ethical principles and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and
  • transparency in financial management.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
