The Finance, Procurement and Logistics Division of Elections Ontario (EO) is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented professional for the position of Finance System Lead who will play a key role in the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance and Operations) and Dayforce Payroll to support Elections Ontario's operational and strategic goals.
What to expect in this role
Reporting to the Manager, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Implementation, you will:
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of D365 Finance and Operations (F&O) modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Budgeting, Procurement, Fixed Assets, and Financial Reporting.
- Lead project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure with stakeholders while tracking to lead the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of the project. Includes monitoring and reporting on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, developing risk management plans, conducting risk assessments, and implementing mitigation strategies to address potential issues.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, vendors, and operations to ensure seamless integration with existing systems to achieve deliverables. Facilitate regular meetings to discuss project progress, address challenges, and align on objectives. This also involves collaborating on the integration between D365, Dayforce Payroll and other legacy systems.
- Translate business functional and system integration requirements into system configurations, functional designs, test plans, and other required documents. Support the modernization of manual processes and the digitization of paper processes with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Lead the completion of system configuration workbooks, functional design and system design documents, while overseeing data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation for data migration and system cutovers.
- Work with vendors to develop training materials, conduct workshops, and provide ongoing support to ensure users are proficient in using Dynamics 365. Train and support end-users to maximize system adoption and efficiency as needed.
- Support management initiatives to ensure the smooth adoption of new system features and processes. Provide input on change management plans and assistance support during transitions.
- Provide project management support and financial management expertise to the Manager, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Implementation, as required.
- Maintain professional awareness in relation to current accounting practices, GAAP, and the general business environment to communicate impacts and implications throughout the project.
What you need to qualify
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in full cycle accounting or similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar finance systems.
- Proficiency in defining project scope and deliverables, coordinating project activities, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring project goals are achieved on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, financial management and planning principles, practices and methods, and related legislation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and financial and payroll applications/systems, to ensure appropriate data maintenance and to create required analyses and reports.
- Strong attention to detail and well-developed communication and presentation skills to effectively liaise with a variety of stakeholders, including vendors, senior management, and other divisions.
- Strong team leadership skills to provide operational and functional guidance and advice to team members.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to transform business and system integration requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and consultation skills to work effectively across teams and establish strong working relationships with all stakeholders (including senior leadership, management and staff) to provide financial advice, processes, procedures and policies.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Elections Ontario offers an alternative work arrangement (Telework). For the first 3 months this position will require in-office presence based on operational requirements. Some roles may require onsite presence 5 days a week.
