The Opportunity:

The Dispatch Planner is responsible for organizing and scheduling fuel deliveries to retail locations, bulk plants and cardlocks through independent brokers and overflow carriers in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner, adhering to industry regulations and insurance guidelines.

Responsibilities:

Planning:

  • Schedules loads based on safety, customer service and load efficiency.
  • Manage and coordinate deliveries through overflow carriers as necessary.
  • Monitor daily markets and rack pricing reports to assist in organizing lift plans for brokers and outside carriers.

Dispatching:

  • Communicates dispatch to independent brokers and their drivers (including shift plans, site plot plans and trailer information).
  • Manage weekly and monthly haulage volumes to ensure supply nominations are met.
  • Ensure brokers are dispatched accordingly to meet Ministry driving hours regulation.
  • Confirms loads have been delivered.

Safety/Training:

  • Assist Distribution Supervisor in training new independent brokers in accordance with company transport guidelines and terminal orientation requirements.
  • Assist Distribution Supervisor to investigate and resolve driver complaints from motorists or delivery concerns from retailers.
  • Report all incidents to management.

Administrative Duties:

  • Receives, records inventory information and customer orders.
  • Respond to inquiries about products or broker opportunities.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role; working in a petroleum fuel environment or transportation of dangerous goods is considered an asset but not required.
  • Previous experience in Dispatch is an asset.
  • Knowledge of transportation act and fuel safety along with, transportation and experience is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working hours are 6:30am - 6:30pm, 4 day on 4 day off rotation.
