The Assistant Environmental Services Manager - Contract reports to the Environmental Services Manager and is expected to
perform general, routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout the facility, in
accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
Responsibilities:
● As directed and in accordance with applicable codes and regulations, performs a variety
of routine maintenance, servicing, and repair operations to maintain home, equipment,
furnishings, fixtures, and grounds in proper condition,
● Following a preventative maintenance program for building, HVAC, and fire systems,
● Refurbishing of suites on Resident turnover,
● Ordering supplies and adherence to the operating budget,
● Demonstrates attitudes and beliefs consistent with being person-centered,
● Working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act,
● Conducts regular maintenance rounds to ensure all life safety and building and support
systems are functioning properly,
● Notifies the Environmental Services Manager of significant building/equipment
malfunctions/problems,
● Maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner and assures proper care in the
use of tools, equipment, and supplies,
● Maintains required records, reports, statistics, etc., in accordance with policies,
procedures, and legislative requirements,
● Ensures the privacy of residents during the performance of duties,
● Any and all other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
● Grade 12 or OSSD certificate is preferred,
● Ability to read and write English and follow written instructions,
● Computer skills are an asset,
● Three years experience working in a maintenance role in a Retirement Community
setting is preferred,
● Good understanding of chemical and equipment use,
● Ability to work independently or as a team member,
● Some training in repair trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, etc.,
● Knowledgeable about the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Retirement
Homes Act,
● Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results from
less than 6 months old and must be able to provide three supervisory references
