Our client, a government-owned corporation in the transportation and logistics sector, is seeking a Financial Controller to coordinate and supervise the day-to-day accounting functions. This includes supervising the Payables, Receivables, and Billings functions, ensuring accurate accounting records are maintained, and preparing monthly reporting for both the parent and subsidiary companies. This role is also responsible for annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for the parent and subsidiary companies. Finally, this role leads the coordination of the year-end audit, including preparing working papers, and responding to requests from the auditors.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee general ledger accounts, journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, financial statement preparation (including consolidated reports), and fixed asset management; supervise accounting staff and ensure compliance with government reporting requirements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate and prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and assist in consolidated planning, while collaborating with relevant departments like Real Estate.
- Year-End Audit Coordination: Lead the year-end and interim audit processes, prepare working papers and accounting memos for BCRC and BCRP, and provide necessary support.
- Compliance & Support Tasks: Ensure tax compliance (GST/PST), resolve complex accounting issues, coordinate software upgrades, maintain internal controls, manage inter-department collaboration, and tackle additional financial projects as needed.
Requirements:
- CPA Designation
- IFRS reporting experience
- 2-3 years of management experience
