The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the Texelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today, the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane, in nearby Williams Lake, BC, and across the globe.

POSITION
Reporting to the Manager of Housing Services, the Housing Coordinator acts as the key point of contact for all Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) rentals, elder homes and maintenance program. As a key member of the WLFN housing department team, you will be responsible for building long term relationships with current and prospective residents in the community of Sugar Cane on IR1. Under the general oversight of the Manager of Housing Services, the Housing Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of administrative functions pertaining to the rental and elder home units. The Housing Coordinator brings vibrant energy to the Housing department by delivering excellent customer service and an enhanced resident experience. As the Housing Coordinator, you have the opportunity to problem-solve, empower, and deliver relevant solutions to WLFN residents.
Employment Type
Full time, 35 hours per week.
Probation Period
3 months from the date of hire.
Education Required
Bachelor's or Certificate in Business Administration or related.
Experience Required
Minimum of 1-2 years of administrative, clerical or coordination experience.
. Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Overtime Status
Non-exempt.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure delivery of an excellent Housing Service which is member focused, fair, and accessible to all life stages.
- To create and sustain good working relationships with tenants by coordinating and processing tenant housing applications, preparing agreements, coordinating vacancies, and liaising with tenants about policies and procedures.
- Manage the waiting list of prospective tenants, identify and support suitable applicants, deal with inquiries and provide meaningful housing advice.
- Develops an operational plan which incorporates annual goals and objectives for programs and services, including program delivery and evaluation of the tenancy and Band maintenance program.
- Ensures health and safety by overseeing the annual housing inspections and informing the housing manager of new requirements to annual plans and budgets based on the findings.
- Oversee the tools and systems used to educate tenants, promote reporting of maintenance issues and compliance with policies and sense of responsibility and ownership.
- Oversee the rental of the Gym/Arbor/Baseball Field/Elders Building, ensure each building is stocked with supplies, and maintenance is up to date.
- Oversee the collection of rents and maintenance fees.
- Set up home viewing appointments for renovations.
- Collaborates with the Marketing & Communications Manager to create newsletters, posters, and brochures, and utilizes a variety of other methods as a way of sharing any related information with targeted populations.
- Sets up Housing Committee meetings and creates the agenda, minutes, and other documentation.
- Manage credit card reconciliation for the Manager of Housing Services.
- Upkeep the internal home filing system.
- Exercises sound judgement and discretion regarding the confidentiality of client information.
- Service request intake.
- Works closely with Social Development in the administration of rents for tenants on Social Assistance.
- Monitors the housing database for Tenant and Elder homes.
- Creates a safe and healthy environment where homes are well maintained.
- Works closely with the O&M Coordinator and assists when needed.
- Keeps the Manager of Housing Services informed of sensitive and important issues and events.
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of Williams Lake First Nation.
- Contributes to the WLFNs ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.
