About the Role
SMS Security has been providing security solutions to the GTA for over 35 years with a strong presence in the multi-residential market. Our customers trust our advanced security systems and highly trained security personnel to keep their residents, property, and information secure. With our business growing, we're looking for a full-time Access Control Technician to join our team.
The successful candidate is a natural leader with experience working with access control systems. They are self-motivated and comfortable communicating with customers in the field. Responsibilities:
Installation and Configuration
- Install, program, and configure access control systems, including card readers, biometric scanners, and electronic keypads
- Ensure proper integration with existing security infrastructure
- Pull cable and conduit
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
System Maintenance
- Service and troubleshoot variety of access control systems when requested by the clients
- Perform software updates and system upgrades as needed
- Respond to emergency service calls
Customer Service
- Collaborate with clients to understand their access control needs and recommend appropriate solutions
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of all installations, configurations, and maintenance activities
- Generate comprehensive reports for clients and internal use
- Provide detailed service and inspection reports in a timely manner
Training
- Provide training to clients and end-users on the use and maintenance of access control systems
- Create user manuals and documentation as needed.
Good to Have
- Ability to assist in the service and installation of Access Control, Telephone Entry Systems, Door Operators, Elevators, Alarm Systems and IT is an advantage

Requirements and Qualifications:
- 4-5 years of experience with commercial and residential video surveillance systems
- Troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work on ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid G driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to use power tools.
- Comfortable working in all elements - some projects are outside or in underground parking garages.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
