We are excited to have a Term Early Learning Educator opportunity available August 19, 2025 until June 26, 2026.
Lethbridge School Division is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, caring and enthusiastic team leader to fill the role of Early Learning Educator which supports preschool aged children. The successful applicants will work within an inclusive classroom setting with a team of educational assistants providing programming for children with diverse abilities.
What will you work?
Scheduled hours are 35 hours per week Monday- Friday.
This position follows the assigned Early Learning Educator calendar and will end on June 26, 2026.
Locations Available:
- 1 Position split between Park Meadows Elementary School (mornings) and Westminster Elementary School (afternoons)
Early Learning Educator positions are right for you if you:
- Have a strong understanding of early childhood development and translate that into effective programming - a program that is child centered, play based and developmentally appropriate across all domains of development
- Have the ability to work with children with diverse backgrounds and abilities toward accomplishing their educational and developmental goals in inclusive ways
- Have the ability to direct and support educational assistants in their work
- Have the ability to infuse speech/language and early literacy skills
- Have the ability to relate and interact well with young children
- Effective communication skills with children, staff and families
- Collaborate effectively with team members, parents, community partners, principals, teachers and staff
- Work collaboratively within a team setting along with the ability to work independently
- Have a high level of empathy and interpersonal skills
- Have a willingness to participate in professional learning activities; e.g., "Learning Language and Loving It," ABC and Beyond," etc.
- Have experience in the use of technology; such as iPads, assistive technology etc.
- Have a positive, flexible attitude
- Have strong problem-solving skills and effective decision making skills
What will you do?
The Early Learning Educator will work with children aged 3 & 4 to create programs that foster play-based and hands-on, experiential learning activities designed to meet all children where they are at, including children that may have developmental needs. Opportunities to foster independence and skills in making decisions, cooperating with others, and problem solving will be integrated into all aspects of the program. All domains of development (social, communication, gross and fine motor, creative and cognitive) will be addressed through a variety of first-hand experiences.
Requirements
Education, Certification and Experience Required:
- Early Childhood Education Diploma is preferred although relevant degrees will also be considered.
- Level 2 (Child Care Worker Certification) or higher is required.
- Proof of Education and Certification is required. Education received outside of Canada will require a Educational Credetial Assessment (ECA) confirming high school or post secondary equivalencies.
- A valid First Aid Certificate is preferred
- Learning Language and Loving it certificate is preferred
- ABC and Beyond certificate is preferred
- Experience leading a program with 3 and 4 year old children is preferred
Conditions of Employment:
In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School
Division who are offered employment must provide:
- A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
- A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
- Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver's licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
- Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee's legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
