About the Opportunity
Are you a skilled accounting professional who loves leading a team, solving problems, and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes? We're working with a fantastic client in the commercial construction and design-build space to help them find their next Senior Accounting Manager.
This full-time, on-site role is based in Etobicoke, and it's perfect for someone who's ready to roll up their sleeves, take ownership, and make a real impact. You'll be reporting to a VP who oversees Finance, HR, IT & Admin — and who values collaboration, clear communication, and people who take initiative.

Make sure vendor invoices are posted accurately and coded properly
Manage cash flow and ensure everything reconciles correctly
Stay on top of government filings and corporate tax payments
Leading the Team
Support and manage a small but mighty accounting team
Help prioritize their work, answer questions, and keep things moving
Encourage professional development and process improvements
Month-End & Financial Reporting
Lead the monthly close (target: done by the 15th!)
Review and post journal entries
Analyze Work in Progress (WIP) for active projects
Prepare financial reports: income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow
Billing & Cash Flow
Coordinate with operations to keep project billing on track
Monitor receivables and follow up as needed
Manage vendor payments while keeping an eye on cash
Systems & Process Improvements
Be the go-to expert on the accounting system (QuickBooks Online)
Manage access, troubleshoot issues, and help with upgrades or integrations
Support the company through an upcoming system transition — previous experience helping implement or switch accounting systems is a big plus!
Identify ways to streamline and automate
Year-End & Compliance
Get everything ready for audits and tax season
Keep financial processes and internal controls in good shape
✅ What We're Looking For
CPA designation (or in progress) is strongly preferred
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience
Experience managing or mentoring other accounting professionals
Comfort working in construction or project-based environments (nice to have!)
Solid grasp of GAAP, internal controls, and cash flow
