Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
Are you a licensed Electrician (309A or 442A) with a knack for troubleshooting and a passion for keeping things running smoothly? We're looking for a detail-oriented and self-motivated Industrial Electrician to join our Maintenance team in Etobicoke.In this hands-on role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring our equipment and systems run safely and efficiently. From installing and upgrading electrical components to responding quickly to issues, you'll be at the heart of our operations—especially during off-hours when independent decision-making is key.
What You'll DoKeep Production Moving
- Prepare production lines for startup and shut down as needed
- Inspect and maintain control systems, ovens, treatment tanks, and related equipment
- Follow up on issues flagged by previous shifts and take corrective action
- Carry out preventive and scheduled maintenance
- Handle urgent repairs and communicate non-urgent issues to the supervisor
- Troubleshoot process instrumentation including pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Service and repair equipment such as:
- DC/AC drives, PLCs, welding tools, and electric hand tools
- Rectifiers, gas burners, heaters, A/C units, and lighting systems
- Cranes, lift trucks, sprinkler systems, and environmental systems
- Upgrade existing systems and support new machinery installations
- Calibrate tools and instruments, interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Follow all safety protocols and comply with electrical codes
- Keep your workspace clean and safe
- Wear appropriate PPE, particularly when working around arc flash hazards
- Report any safety issues or incidents immediately
- During night and evening shifts, you'll be the go-to expert for electrical issues in the absence of the Electrical Supervisor
- Test and calibration instruments (electrical, pneumatic, and electronic)
- Hand tools and power tools
- Diagnostic software and PLC interfaces
- Lift trucks and cranes for equipment servicing
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid 309A or 442A Electrician License
- Certification to operate cranes, lift trucks, and other material-handling equipment
- Solid experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and PLCs
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently
- Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
- Good verbal communication and documentation skills
- Comfortable with basic math and electrical trade calculations
- Familiar with PLC interfaces and computer-based diagnostics
- You'll work around moving machinery, heights, fumes, and noise
- Physical tasks include lifting, climbing, kneeling, and working in confined areas
- You'll need good vision and mobility to handle tools safely
- Advanced electrical and electronics courses
- Equipment-specific systems (e.g., paint or galvanizing lines)
- Diagnostic software training
- Team collaboration and problem-solving workshops
- Craftsman: Licensed, experienced, and known for your professionalism and troubleshooting skills
- Technician: Master of complex systems, with deep process knowledge and proactive improvement skills
