Key Responsibilities:
Activity Supervision & Facilitation
- Lead and facilitate scheduled daytime and evening activities, ensuring they fun, safe, inclusive, and well organized.
- Supervise students during all assigned activities and excursions, maintaining high levels of supervision - especially for underage students - and adhering to supervision ratios and curfew policies.
- Monitor student behaviour and wellbeing, offering support to homesick or anxious students, and escalating concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
- Take initiative to adapt activities based on weather, student energy levels, or group preferences.
Residence Supervision: Morning Support & Student Welfare
- Oversee breakfast delivery at the residence, ensuring all students receive their meals.
- Ensure students leave the residence on time to attend scheduled classes, supporting punctuality and accountability.
- Monitor student wellbeing and promote respectful behaviour in the residence.
- Provide basic support to students with questions or concerns and escalate any issues following safeguarding procedures.
Safety, Supervision & Behaviour Management
- Maintain appropriate supervision of students during activities and residence hours, especially in line with age-appropriate ratios.
- Conduct informal risk assessments and ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
- Report any incidents, behavioural issues, or concerns promptly to the appropriate manager or safeguarding lead.
Student Communication & Support
- Act as a point of contact for students during working hours, assisting with day-to-day questions and providing reassurance when needed.
- Encourage a supportive and inclusive environment within the residence and during group activities.
- Create a positive and enthusiastic environment that encourages participation and engagement.
- Promote and model respectful behaviour, inclusivity, and adherence to school rules.
Activity & Residence Administration
- Keep accurate attendance for activities and daily morning departures.
- Take appropriate photos or notes during activities (as assigned), ensuring consent protocols are followed.
- Share feedback or reports on student behaviour, incidents, or activities to inform continuous improvement.
Team Collaboration
- Coordinate with activity leaders and management to ensure a seamless student experience and contribute ideas to enhance residential and weekend programming.
Other Duties
- Fulfil other reasonable duties as assigned by the management team to support the safe and enjoyable experience of all students.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in English, a second language is an asset.
- Minimum one year of relevant experience in higher education and student services.
- Knowledgeable of the city of Toronto.
- Able to control a large group of people during activities outside the school.
- Experience being on-call, responding under pressure and competent in managing urgent situations following agreed procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage workload, conflicting priorities, handle multiple tasks, and complete assignments with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- A positive, enthusiastic can-do attitude and a genuine interest in working with students.
- Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with students and colleagues at all levels, building rapport and establishing productive working relationships.
- Available to work weekends, early morning, and evenings as needed.
- Display a genuine desire to understand and meet the diverse needs of students.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with an ability to diffuse escalated situations in a student-focused environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
- Have a flexible schedule as last-minute changes might happen.
- Experience in social media is an asset.
- Able to stand and/or walking for long periods of time.
- High School graduate
