POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing leadership, strategy, planning, coordination, and execution of marketing events, tradeshows, and special initiatives that elevate the New Flyer and MCI brands. This includes organizing customer and press events, industry and association engagements, supplier announcements, and external company events such as product and service launches. The role involves developing strategies, tactics, and success metrics for each event, managing project plans and resources, developing strategies, tactics, and success metrics for each event, managing project plans and resources, creating and enforcing budgets, and reporting on outcomes to identify improvement opportunities. Continuous improvement is a key focus, with a responsibility to implement changes that enhance overall event effectiveness.

In addition to leading all national tradeshows, industry events, customer appreciation receptions, and marketing events-both external and facility-hosted- this position also oversees internal events such as training sessions and annual strategy meetings. It serves as the marketing lead for the Vehicle Innovation Centre (VIC), ensuring all touchpoints align with brand standards and supporting the VIC team with strategy, content development, event execution, and supplier outreach.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Plan and execute impactful digital and in-person events that align with stakeholder goals, strengthen brand presence, and foster industry relationships; lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with internal and external partners to develop strategy, manage logistics, and ensure executive alignment
  • Drive creative event ideation and oversee end-to-end logistics—incorporating innovative audience engagement strategies that align with sales and marketing goals, while managing contracts, venues, vendor coordination, and all on-site execution elements.
  • Identify and pursue sponsorship, speaking, and presentation opportunities; collaborate with the communications team to craft compelling abstracts, proposals, and materials that advocate for the company's event participation.
  • Manage event budgets-including recommendations for and communications across the involvement of other NFI entities; ensure event stays within decided budget and all vendors are paid
  • Plan and manage communications to all internal and external attendees (invitations, instructions, presentations, assignments, debriefs, social media, etc.) to ensure awareness and increase interactions with customers; lead pre-event meetings; maintain all communication portals and tools (Tradeshow Hub, OneDrive, Outlook calendars, etc.)
  • Lead the marketing strategy and execution for the Vehicle Innovation Centre (VIC)in collaboration with the VIC team; research, develop, communicate, and lead marketing plans and campaigns that support the mission and vision of the VIC.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing or a related discipline. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in planning and executing events and/or tradeshows with demonstrated experience in project management
  • Excellent self-manager with strong proactive planning and project management skills, adaptable to fast-paced environments and effective both independently and within teams
  • Detail-oriented multitasker with strong organizational skills and adept problem-solving abilities, consistently delivering accurate and efficient results under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Creative thinker with a continuous improvement mindset for tradeshow processes and events, with a strong understanding of accessibility, inclusion, diversity, and equity in event planning and logistics
  • Working knowledge of the hospitality industry would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of bus manufacturing or transit industry would be considered an asset
