Our client has an immediate need to a PowerBuilder Technical Lead on a 5 year contract (3 yr initial + 2 x 1yr renewal),
reference number RFR-0684, for their Regina, SK location. The position requires regular onsite meetings so candidates
must be local to the Regina area or willing to relocate for the duration of the contract
Things You Need to Have:
Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or an IT technical diploma with experience working in the IT
sector.
Demonstrated experience as a Senior PowerBuilder Technical Lead.
Senior level is considered to be demonstrable experience leading design, development and implementation of major
application enhancements and/or new projects.
Demonstrated experience with PowerBuilder IDE 2022+
Demonstrated experience with PowerBuilder IDE version 2022+ and OLE, PFC, Superclass.
Demonstrated experience as a Lead PowerBuilder Developer including estimating, planning, requirements gathering,
design, testing and implementing project activities (cite size of project and role in project).
What you will be doing:
A.1 Solution Design and Implementation:
• Collaborate with cross-functional ITD teams and ministry business stakeholders to gather requirements and design
innovative solutions using the PowerBuilder Platform.
• Design solutions, customize and configure platforms to align with business needs, including creating workflows, forms,
dashboards, and reports.
• Assist in developing custom solutions in other ITD technologies leveraging .NET, Azure Cloud and Functions, Git, HTML,
Java, .Net, MySQL PL/SQL, Web Services, DevOps etc.
• Migrate data from other database sources such as SQL Server or Oracle.
• Develop application specific reporting using Power BI and other Enterprise reporting tools.
A.2 Technical Leadership:
• Lead all technical aspects of projects related to the implementation and enhancement of PowerBuilder Platform
solutions.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, according to agreed upon requirements and technical specifications, while
meeting quality standards.
• Provide and implement recommendations to ensure overall PowerBuilder platform stability, maturity and ongoing
improvement.
• Recommend, design and build tools and utilities to manage the PowerBuilder platform.
A.3 Platform Administration and Support:
• Manage user access, permissions, and security settings for PowerBuilder Platform.
• Perform routine maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure optimal platform performance.
• Offer responsive support and guidance to resolve user queries and technical challenges.
• Continuously refine and enhance existing solutions to increase efficiency and productivity.
• Engage with external vendors and Appeon Power Builder support as necessary to resolve complex technical issues or
obtain guidance on best practices.
• Leading application releases and refining releases of technical processes, typically leveraging Azure DevOps pipelines.
A.4 Integration
• Integrate PowerBuilder Platform with other enterprise systems to ensure seamless data exchange.
• Design and build data flows, transformations, and integrations to enhance data accuracy and availability.
