About the Role:

As a member of the Clinical Leadership Team, the Supervisor Peer Support is accountable for providing Peer scope of practice direction and oversight, program planning, programming, recruitment support, and direct supervision of Peer Support staff. The Supervisor Peer Support will participate in the leadership on-call rotation.

Hours of Work:

  • Monday to Friday (days), with evening and weekend and evening work required on a rotational/regular to supervise and support staff teams
  • Participation in a mandatory clinical on call rotation is also required, as a shared responsibility of the Clinical Leadership team

Qualifications:

  • Lived experience related to substance use and/or mental health required
  • Completion of a BSW or other University Degree relevant to mental health, substance use or Social Services
  • Minimum of 1 years direct peer work with individuals experiencing substance use and concurrent mental health issues required
  • Certification with Peer Support Canada or equivalent required
  • Experience providing peer supervision and team leadership
  • Strong knowledge of substance use theory and practice, withdrawal management, peer-based service delivery, and current best practices particularly concurrent and trauma-informed
  • Experience in community-based work a strong asset
  • Knowledge of ABI, developmental issues, medical complexity an asset

Role Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Take a leadership role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of the Peer Support Services across STC portfolios in collaboration with other leadership team members.
  • Provide direct supervision to staff in the P2P Program
    • Supporting development of peer support staff through routine supervision
    • Providing coaching, feedback, mentoring, and targeted use of supervision as required
    • Complete probationary and annual performance appraisals for all supervisees in consultation with Clinical Manager Community & Justice
  • Provide oversight of the daily operations of the P2P program as directed by the Clinical Manager
  • Participate in new Peer Support staff recruitment in conjunction with the Clinical Leadership Team
  • Orient and support new Peer Support staff in understanding role and responsibilities
  • Actively cultivate high performance teams, supporting and enhancing a culture of openness, accountability, and mutual respect within and across teams
  • Guide Peer practice decision-making and manage high-risk situations in partnership with the Clinical Leadership Team
  • Provide on call support and crisis supervision onoff hours on a rotational basis, as required
  • Participate in all team meetings
  • Attend Clinical Leadership Team meetings, Supervisor Team meetings, and support program and organizational development
  • Facilitate monthlypeer Community of Practice
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required
  • Support staff in utilizing a TC (Therapeutic Community) approach to decision making and interventions
  • Work alongside the STC Leadership Team, while utilizing the TC approach, to support program development

Collaboration with External Partners

  • Build strong relationships with all community partners, attending meetings and representing STC as required

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Complete regular Peer file audits
  • Support team members with the utilization of Agency platforms (EMR platforms, ATS, Payroll and Communication tools)
  • Maintain thorough and accurate notes and files
  • Participate in quality assurance processes such as accreditation and the implementation of outcome measurement tools and reporting of results (i.e. client satisfaction surveys, retention results, etc.)
