Job Description

Our client is an industry-leading investment consultant who provides advisory services to their clients. They have an immediate need for an Operational Due Diligence Analyst. This role is responsible for analyzing, reviewing and monitoring operational processes and risks of alternative fund managers and preparing written research reports for clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate assigned alternative investment managers. Particular focus on analyzing operational risk and internal controls, examine documentation, review of staff and organizational structure, and assessing information systems/technology infrastructure.
  • Conduct on-site interviews with Investment manager to discuss operational risks, internal controls, and information systems, as well as verify the existence of assets
  • Monitor assigned funds on an ongoing basis and update written reports to reflect changes in fund operations
  • Prepare clear, accurate, concise reports and recommendations to clients, in line with client and management deadlines.
  • Liaise with clients and Investment managers with respect to operational due diligence inquiries.
  • Develop and implement company “best practices” for operational due diligence
  • Participation in project work to enhance the due diligence process and broader company initiatives.
  • Act as an ambassador at industry events.
  • Mentoring Support Analysts
  • Report potential conflicts to compliance and work with compliance to ensure that conflict disclosures appear on research reports

Requirements:

  • University graduate or equivalent
  • 5+ years relevant prior work experience, with expertise in or familiarity with one or more of the following areas: operational due diligence, fund due diligence, audit (including internal audit), legal and compliance, technology and information security, fund operations, fund administration or prime brokerage
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and professional presentation
  • Completed or working toward completion of related designations such as CFA, CAIA or CPA
  • Proficient using Excel, PowerBI, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently outside of Canada
