Overview:
Malroz Engineering Inc. is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Intermediate to Senior Technologist to manage operations of our in-house geotechnical and materials testing laboratory in Kingston. This individual will play a leadership role in laboratory operations, project execution, quality assurance, and mentorship of junior staff. This is a key position that bridges technical excellence, client service, and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the geotechnical and construction materials laboratory.
- Supervise and mentor a team of technologists and technicians, promoting professional development and ensuring a high standard of work.
- Oversee laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, asphalt, concrete, and other materials in accordance with ASTM, CSA, AASHTO, and MTO standards.
- Ensure laboratory quality control, including participation in CCIL certification and MTO proficiency testing programs.
- Develop and implement lab-specific SOPs and safety procedures, with an eye toward innovation and process improvement.
- Coordinate and review field testing services for construction projects, including scheduling field staff and providing technical guidance.
- Review, interpret, and compile test data into clear, defensible reports.
- Ensure calibration, certification, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Interface with clients and contribute to project planning, cost estimation, and proposal development.
- Collaborate with project engineers, environmental scientists, and other internal teams to support integrated project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a 3-year Civil/Environmental Engineering Technology or equivalent diploma program.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in geotechnical and materials testing.
- C.E.T. designation (or eligible within 6 months).
- Strong technical knowledge of lab and field test methods and construction materials behavior.
- Valid CCIL certifications preferred (or eligibility to obtain).
- Working knowledge of MTO, ASTM, CSA, and AASHTO specifications.
- Valid driver's license and clean abstract.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or data management systems an asset.
