Job Title: Digital Architect
Location: Primarily Remote (Canada-based), occasional onsite in Alberta
Client: Government of Alberta – Digital Design and Delivery (3D)
Contract Term: 1 year (with possible 24-month extension)
Hours: Full-time, 7.25 hours/day (approx. 1,960 hours annually)
Clearance Required: Criminal Record Check; Enhanced Security Clearance (for certain ministries)
We are seeking up to ten (10) Digital Architects to lead the solution architecture on high-impact service innovation and digital transformation projects. As the senior technical resource within an agile, cross-functional team, you will drive architectural vision and support the iterative design, prototyping, and delivery of user-centric services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Architecture Leadership:
- Develop and own architectural plans aligned to agile and user-centered principles.
- Perform technical discovery, design solution prototypes, and assess system impact and risk.
- Ensure alignment with GoA standards, platforms, and target architecture.
Implementation Support:
- Guide delivery teams on integrations, boundary design, and leveraging shared components.
- Support and review development work, contribute to code when necessary.
- Provide mentorship and facilitate technical knowledge sharing.
Vision & Standards Development:
- Support development of platform-wide architecture strategy and reusable service components.
- Contribute to service quality standards, KPIs, and technical best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in all agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives).
- Foster collaboration with UX designers, product owners, and researchers.
Must-Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 5+ years in software architecture, agile development teams, and leading solution design.
- 5+ years mentoring teams in agile practices and delivering user-centric software.
- 5+ years full-stack development with modern technologies.
- 5+ years experience in open-source environments (e.g., Node.js/NPM).
- 2+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Nice-to-Have:
- 2+ years implementing DevSecOps.
- 5+ years transforming legacy systems into modern digital services.
- 5+ years as a senior technical leader influencing digital architecture.
- Experience in user-centered design, service design, and working with design teams.
- Experience with data modeling, analytics architectures, and working with cross-functional architects.
