The Opportunity:
We're seeking an experienced Interim Director of Finance to lead external financial reporting, consolidations, tax oversight, and audit preparation for a publicly listed Canadian resource company. This is a 15-month contract with a strong focus on hands-on leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and process improvement across financial systems and reporting frameworks.
You'll manage a team of 3 and serve as a key liaison between internal teams, auditors, and the Board. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in public company reporting under IFRS, SOX compliance, and experience in complex, asset-heavy industries like mining, energy, or oil & gas. What You'll Be Doing:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial reporting under IFRS
- Prepare and review MD&A, internal financial packages, and board reporting materials
- Manage the year-end audit process in collaboration with external auditors
- Support tax reporting, working closely with external advisors
- Maintain SOX controls and ensure ongoing compliance
- Provide technical accounting guidance on leases, provisions, and critical minerals grants
- Participate in ESG reporting and present financial results to the Audit Committee and Board
- Contribute to the SAP Hana system upgrade project
What We Need From You:
- CPA designation with 10+ years of progressive experience
- Strong background in public company reporting (IFRS, MD&A, SOX compliance)
- Experience in asset-heavy sectors such as mining, oil & gas, or energy
- Comfortable navigating complex reporting structures and system integrations
- Confident presenting to senior stakeholders and auditors
- Experience with SAP and Workiva is a plus
- Known for being hands-on, detail-oriented, and collaborative
