Reporting to the Lift Operations Manager, the Lift Operations Assistant Manager has joint oversight for a team of 85+ seasonal operators and supports the Operations Manager providing effective management of Lift Operations as it relates to product, people and experience. This position is ideally suited to a seasoned supervisor with a strong track record in operations management, combined with a commitment to safety, productivity & efficiency, team spirit and guest experience. With oversight for a significant seasonal workforce, we are seeking a people-focused leader and team champion, who can drive morale and productivity to both retain employees and bring out the best in them.
Compensation Information: $60,000 to $70,000 per annum
Physical Requirement: Medium, work activities involve handling loads between 10kg and 20kg; predominately in an outdoor setting.
This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:
- Post secondary education in ski area operations, tourism management or equivalent preferred.
- Lift 150 certification an asset.
- Solid leadership skills with track record for retaining and motivating high performance teams.
- Strong administrator.
- Flexible multitasker with ability to balance team and operational requirements and make/communicate sound decisions in the moment.
- Continuous improvement mindset, with appetite to seek new ways of delivering on our guest and employee experience.
- Valid BC driver's license with abstract submitted annually.
- Strong skier/snowboarder.
- Proficient in use of PC programs including Microsoft Office.
- Guest experience champion and ambassador for Sun Peaks Resort.
Primary Responsibilities:
Operational:
- Assist with staff hiring, training, scheduling and administration.
- Efficient and safe operation of all passenger ropeways and conveyors.
- Daily quality control checks of all operating lifts, mazes and lift ramps on the mountain (winter and summer).
- Maintenance of records, including daily lift logs, personnel training records, incident reports, and weekly safety meetings.
Leadership/Team Enablement:
- Ensure staff work in accordance and adherence to established safety and inspection procedures.
- Assist in overseeing performance management, identifying opportunities for regular coaching and mentoring for supervisors and team members.
- Hold weekly (at minimum) staff meetings with follow-up on agenda items, minutes to be recorded and filed for Worksafe BC, OH&S and TSBC compliance.
OH&S:
- Oversight for, and adherence to, all safety policies, including training, incident/accident reporting, investigation and associated documentation.
Other:
- Work within the guidelines of our Environmental Management Policy and represent Operations on the EMS committee.
