Position: Senior Construction Manager

Location: Nanaimo, BC

Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead the successful execution of major construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing budgets, maintaining safety compliance, mentoring junior staff, managing schedules, and ensuring overall project excellence. Your leadership will play a key role in optimizing project outcomes and strengthening client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the planning and execution of large-scale construction projects from start to finish.

Manage project budgets and schedules to ensure efficient, on-time delivery.

Uphold the highest standards of construction safety and regulatory compliance.

Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to site staff and junior construction managers.

Review and analyze contracts, drawings, specifications, and tenders.

Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve project challenges proactively.

Foster a positive, solution-oriented team environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline (preferred).

Minimum of 10 years' experience managing commercial, municipal, and multi-residential construction projects.

Strong familiarity with Vancouver Island's construction industry, regulations, and practices is an asset.

Proven experience with contract negotiation, administration, and document review.

Demonstrated leadership and conflict-resolution skills; experience mentoring team members.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach to project management.

In-depth knowledge of construction safety standards and the ability to enforce protocols on site.
