Employment Status: Full-time, Temporary, 12-month contract

Job Type: Hybrid In office with flexibility to manage your work schedule with up to 8 days per month to work from home.

Location: London, Ontario

Job Details

This position provides quality assurance strategic planning within our agile software development teams, across all applications within CARFAX Canada domains.

Key areas of influence for this role will include managing a large group of quality assurance analysts to help build, maintain, and test applications while keeping our security integrity. Reviewing high-level quality assurance standards / practices will be a common focus for this individual.

You will work closely with the product team and project management office to focus on understanding the product roadmap and compile a solution to create new products/features/capabilities. You will resource these projects according to the objectives laid out by the other departments.

You will oversee the reviewing and evaluation of our current quality assurance practices, develop and integrate new practices to be an integral part of the SDLC. You will identify and develop department plans based on changing requirements and shifts within teams and departments.

Position Responsibilities

  1. Manage a large group of quality assurance analysts on Agile development teams
  2. Mentor all members of the QA team and build an optimal environment for quality assurance to grow
  3. Create a long-term strategic plan for the QA department; build, document, and execute strategic objectives for the QA team
  4. Work closely with an Agile team to create Test Plan and Test Cases and automation test strategy based on requirements, design documents to ensure all product functionality, both functional and Non-functional requirements are met
  5. Identify technical test data requirements; configure and maintain test data to support testing
  6. Conduct manual testing; log, track and resolve product defects with the Agile team
  7. Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing, such as system, integration, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods
  8. Design and develop automated testing for functional, regression, load testing and performance tuning
  9. Develop and maintain the automation testing framework for functional and performance automated testing
  10. Use established QA processes and best practices, and continually improve upon them; research new tools and technology
  11. Make recommendations for improvement of applications to software developers
  12. Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to team, project stakeholders and management
  13. Assist in the development of change control processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing technologies
  14. High-level decision maker for technical direction and standards for QA
  15. Actively consulting on the implementation of the solution, explaining the rationale behind choices and making amendments to the solution when justified.
  16. Knowledge and experience in design patterns and SDLC
  17. Provide metrics and reporting for software deliveries and timelines
  18. Ensure quality assurance resourcing is properly allocated, and smooth project transitions take place
  19. Communicate and facilitate product releases

Education and Experience Required

  • 8+ years of quality assurance in an IT capacity
  • 3+ years of experience as a people leader
  • Post-secondary education is preferred
  • Adept at problem analysis and providing problem solving solutions
  • Experience in software development/ automated testing, ideally with C#, JUnit, Postman, and SQL
  • Experience with test automation tools (e.g. Microsoft Test Manager, Selenium) and automated regression testing is a strong asset
  • Experience with QA in the context of Agile software development is a strong asset
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior organizational and planning skills
  • Great team player as well as being able to work alone with no need for micro-management
  • Experience in building and executing against department long term strategies / game plans
