The Role

The Workforce Planning Specialist Flead strategic workforce planning initiatives across our organizational environments. You'll lead a strategy to align JD's talent needs with business goals by forecasting workforce demand, identifying talent gaps, and driving workforce optimization. This role is key to ensuring JD has the right people, in the right place, at the right time.

Key Responsibilities:

Workforce Planning & Forecasting

  • Partner with business leaders to understand future workforce needs based on business plans, seasonal trends, and strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain headcount models, scenario planning, and demand forecasting tools.
  • Analyze workforce trends and data to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Align with our reporting team to build and maintain dashboards and reports on workforce metrics, including turnover, vacancy rates, and productivity.
  • Present insights to senior leadership to inform business decisions.

Project Management

  • Lead workforce-related initiatives such as restructuring, expansion, and automation projects.
  • Support labor planning for new store openings, peak periods (e.g., Back to School, Holidays), and distribution demands.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as the SME on workforce planning best practices, systems, and tools.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making across HR and operations.

Talent Alignment Support

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, HRBPs, and Retail Operations to align workforce plans with hiring strategies and talent pipelines.
  • Contribute to succession planning and internal mobility strategies.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in workforce planning, talent analytics, or HR strategy—preferably in retail, logistics, or a fast-paced multi-site environment.
  • Proven ability to create headcount and capacity models using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a data-driven mindset.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of workforce planning systems or ERP tools is an asset.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce and Store Force is not required, but heavily preferred.
