Position Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive professional to lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of mandatory Assistive Listening Systems (ALS) and associated accessibility functions across our retail store network. This includes integrating ALS with digital signage and AV systems in compliance with the Accessible Canada Act (ACA), CSA B651, and applicable provincial regulations (e.g., AODA in Ontario).
This is a cross-functional role that bridges technical integration, compliance oversight, and project execution to ensure our stores provide a barrier-free customer experience.
Regulatory & Compliance Expertise
- Familiarity with AODA, Accessible Canada Act, Ontario Building Code, and WCAG 2.0/2.1 standards.
- Awareness of EN 301 549 and its ICT implications.
Technical Experience
- Hands-on experience with ALS technologies:
- Induction loop systems
- Infrared or FM-based systems
- Bluetooth streaming to hearing aids or apps
- Ability to integrate ALS with AV systems, digital signage, or conferencing platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.).
Assessment & Implementation
- Experience conducting accessibility audits (digital and physical environments).
- Has created or contributed to Accessibility Plans and Remediation Reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in AV systems design, accessibility compliance, or retail technology implementation.
• Strong expertise in providing recommendations and road map for implementation
• Strong knowledge of:
o Accessible Canada Act (ACA)
o CSA B651: Accessible Design for the Built Environment
o Provincial accessibility regulations (e.g., AODA)
• Proven experience deploying ALS or AV systems in public or customer-facing spaces
• Familiarity with digital signage platforms and assistive audio technology
• Strong vendor management and project management skills
• Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder engagement ability
• PMP certification or experience managing multi-site rollouts is a strong asset
